If pop music is for the neck down then the rhythmic variety definitely caters to the region below the waist. Nothing gets the hips swaying, the ass swinging and the feet moving like dance music. And when a song truly has “dance floor anthem” potential like This Girl by Elitists then you can be sure simulated orgies will be breaking out at the clubs once the DJ fires the track up. Reminiscent of Reel 2 Real’s I Like To Move It, This Girl, fully stocked with double entendres and a contageous beat, isn’t meant to be an exercise in mental acuteness. There’s no deep philosphical or social message here – unless your idea of one is a three and half minute pick-up line. But, of course, who doesn’t equate pick up lines and social awareness with Saturdays nights when the music is pounding and drinks are flowing?
The due Elitists describe themselves as “heroes from muddled, kranky, off-kilter worlds, trying to adjust to it all and somehow by flattening, accepting and smoothing out the mess.” Um. Yeah. Yogi and Zuko (their names) can obviously express themselves better with their music – Pop, Dance, Electronica. Their track, This Girl (described above) can be found at Soundcloud all major digital download stores.
