Borg Queen “Lapdance Romance” a Lusty Goth Rock Tale

Borg Queen is entrancing fans with her latest track release Lapdance Romance. While delivering a peculiar blend of enticing vocals and uncanny lyrics, Borg Queen is turning heads with a distinct industrial goth rock sound. The rocker is introducing a never before heard sound that will inevitably make its way into the hearts of rock fans of every sector. Lapdance Romance brings to the sound factory a measure of funk and plenty of sex-appeal.

Borg Queen tells a fascinating story through a puzzling lens, creating interesting moments of irony. At times, it seems that Lapdance Romance functions to cause a bizarre level of discomfort, a feeling comparable to being naked in the middle of an urban epicenter as traffic breezes by. Even still, with the unexpected ambiance that the track conjures up, the overall effect is strangely entertaining and incredibly interesting.

As haunting melodies saturate the track, Borg Queen paints an amusing picture of female dominance, one that is at times conflicted but often wielding power throughout the song. The track highlights a feminist aura with brazen soul. The song lyrics elicit a response from the psyche through the intentional use of metaphors and ornate storytelling. Lapdance Romance is a journey through a jungle of sound where listeners are forced to let loose, explore the forbidden, and bare it all.

What started out as the art of therapy for Jenny Kirby, an alcoholic and stripper, evolved into the electro goth rock project now known as Borg Queen. While discovering ways to occupy her time, Jenny turned to music, suppressing the desire to consume alcohol. Initially Jenny’s goal was to compile a series of paintings known as Sex, Drugs & Shiny Brass Poles, which chronicled her life as a stripper. She was later inspired to write songs about each of her artistic pieces, fusing together visual art and music into an unconventional canvas. As the only member of Borg Queen, Jenny plays, records, engineers, and produces all of the instrumentals on her project. The musician’s journey has taken her through not only painting and music…but, acting, dance, theater, design, and animation as well. Having expanded on the multidisciplinary experience known as Borg Queen, Jenny released a music video for Lapdance Romance that encompasses the various artistic elements by which she has communicated her story. The music video for the track was awarded the Beat 100 Silver Video A&R Award for High Quality Original Video with Good Production Values. Lapdance Romance is available for purchase on iTunes, Amazon, and Google Play.

Mika Lucio, a native of Staten Island, NY got her start in music as a college radio DJ at Bradford College in Massachusetts. She received her degree in Communications from Old Dominion University. As a trained dancer and recording artist, Lucio has appeared on national television on shows such as BET’s 106 & Park. Managed by Ruishella Sellers of Myjestik Entertainment, Mika recorded her first album at 19 years old with Hampton Roads indie group M.E.C. An avid music lover of all genres, she is always looking for fresh new music to add to her digital collection.

  1. She’s wicked awesome, creative, very sexy, and in very good taste!

Borg Queen deserved a better interpretation of her music. True, its a new edgy sound, its not something many may have grown up with over the decades, but that’s what makes it so innovative. This brings to the table the evolution in music, that’s missing with the recording artists we’re stuck with in this dispensation of modern music.

I personally enjoyed her song, I think it’s everything that should take rock music to its next phase evolution, hope she continues building on this, and gaining the support she well deserves.
